International Property - Europe’s woes hit global house prices

The Global House Price Index recorded its weakest annual performance since the depths of the recession in 2009, recording only 0.9% growth in the year to March 2012. Institute of Esatate Agents South Africa - Estate Agents Get New Minister

Human settlements minister Tokyo Sexwale is now in charge of the estate agency profession.  Ministerial responsibility for the Estate Agency Affairs Act was transferred from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to the Department of Human Settlements (DHS) on May 17.



Anti-Counterfeiting - South African Act aims to curb fake goods trade

Counterfeiting is a world-wide phenomenon which involves the copying, cloning or impersonation of a genuine product without the consent of the owner.  According to the World Customs Organisation, the international sales of counterfeit goods comprise a $600 billion industry representing between 5-7% of the total world trade.



SA Legal Opinion - How many proxies can one person have?

There seems to be some confusion of late as to whether a person can hold more than two proxies or not. The simple answer is yes: a person can currently hold more than two proxies – there is no limit at the moment.



Sectional Title - Extension of sections in Sectional Title schemes in South Africa

The Sectional Titles Amendment Act, No.11 of 2010 was published on 7 December 2010 and within these amendments, Section 24 (6) (d) - which deals with the extension of sections in Sectional Title schemes - was addressed.
